For holistic development of tribal students, promotion of sports among STs has been taken up as one of the thrust areas. Proper Sports facility and training is provided in all schools. GSTDES organizes yearly sports meet zone-wise (South Zone, Central Zone, North Zone and West Zone) and also at a State level. Students from 85 schools under GSTDES participate in the meet and showcase their potential in various fields i.e. archery, sprint, KHo Kho, Kabbadi, Volleyball,Discus Throw etc.

In order to hone the archery skills of tribal youth, training them in archery and physical fitness to enable them to compete in international events, National Archery Centre is being established at Chotaudepur. This is being established with convergence of State and Central Government funding.
