Eco-tourism has been given special focus considering the employment opportunities that it can generate. The Forest Department has developed 21 Eco-tourism Centres in tribal areas and the management of the same has been given to tribal mandalis.

The ecotourism initiatives focus on

• Promoting nature based non-consumptive tourism
• Facilitating experience based appreciative dynamic balance of nature leading to responsible citizen
• Encouraging active participation of local peoples for their economic benefits
• Engaging multiple stakeholder for active participation both in conservation and economic activities
