Integrated Livestock Development Program


Several complementary projects have also been introduced and converged with IDDP to make dairying successful which include Integrated Livestock Development (ILD) project, Fodder Development Project. The ILD Program addresses shortage of good quality cattle providing efficient breed improvement services. ILD centres are being established across the tribal belt of Gujarat in partnership with BAIF and J K Trust. Under this project Artificial Insemination service and after care services of new born calves is provided at the door step of tribal dairy farmers by female Para Veterinary Workers also known by "Mahila Gopal”. The good quality crossbred calves born under the ILD project has resulted in the quality stock of milch cattle in the tribal region of Gujarat.

The good quality crossbred calves born under the ILD project has resulted in qualitative as well as quantitative improvement of milch cattle in tribal areas. Under this project, more than 25,000 calves were born that will significantly improve the income of tribal farmers.
